Meloneras Beach


Meloneras Beach is the most happening place at Gran Canaria. Just 15 – 20 years ago there was hardly any building only virgin beaches in the area. Now it is home to the most modern touristic area at Gran Canaria.

Costa Meloneras has the largest cluster of both  5 star and 4 star hotels from leading hotel groups such as Riu, Lopesan etc. It has the most modern shopping arcades with shops of most top fashion brands.  Meloneras is also home to the largest and most modern convention centre in Gran Canaria. A number of golf courses are also spread across the area.  There is a large casino and restaurants from Spanish, to Indian and everything in between. Name your favourite food and you will find a restaurant to cater to your taste and budget.

The beach is 900 mtrs long. It has an area with sand and another portion of pebbled stone beach.   The beach offers full services including sun beds, life guards, toilets, baths etc.

Close by is the most famous landmark – its Light House (Faro) built in 1861 towering 55 meters above the ground. This tall lighthouse was used to guide ships from Europe to the American and African coasts. There is a long history behind this tower house, to this day it continues to guide ships.

The entire beach area of this zone consisting of Mas Palomas, Playa del Ingles and Meloneras are interconnected to one another forming chain of a 12 kms (7.45 miles) of beach area.




Starting from the light house walking from it towards the other end you will find 3 unique protected eco systems;

–          The Palmeral (Palm trees)

–          The Charca (Pond of water) lying between the sand and the sea and the

–          Dunas (Sand dunes)
